Kybella is new to the market and has generated a lot of hype. It is the first product to be FDA certified for the treatment of submental fullness. It can be used to reduce double chins or even just full single chins. It requires 2-3 syringes of Kybella per visit with roughly 4-6 visits necessary to obtain the final result. You may have heard of mesotherapy, and Kybella is simply an approved product made by a manufacturer. Although I am excited to have another method to reduce submental fullness, I stress that patients should really considering seeing a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon when considering such treatment. I currently have several methods to reduce submental fullness that are non-invasive. Coolsculpting and Ultherapy both have the capability of removing fullness in the region with no downtime. Liposuction is still the most effective method, especially for individuals with more than just a small amount of submental fullness with the advantage of being quick, easy, and very reliable. Each patient is going to respond differently and a one stop treatment such as Ultherapy or liposuction may be more appealing than having 4-6 series of injections. However, if you only seek out a consultation with a doctor who can only provide Kybella, yet you are a better candidate for liposuction, you will likely be sold Kybella and may be unhappy with the results. Do your homework when selecting a surgeon. Call us today or click on the virtual consultation to find out what might be the best option for you.
