Do you want to look and feel better but aren’t ready for surgery? Fortunately there are a lot of new and exciting treatments available that are non-invasive to help you feel better about yourself. Almost every day a new technology arrives to help improve the way you feel and look. My job, as your advocate, is to make sure that I steer you toward the proper treatment that will give you a good result. Surgery still gives more dramatic results, but that doesn’t mean you can’t see real change with almost no downtime with these technologies.
The first and most prevalent treatments are facial. Botox® Cosmetic is almost a household name. Juvederm® and Restylane® are a close second. Botox helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles while Juvederm® and Restylane® add volume back to the face. These are wonderful treatments to help reduce or remove signs of aging over your lunch time break. I like to have my patients think of these as preventative. They work best preventing the onset of aging, rather than correcting. If there are subtle signs of aging that you would like corrected, the time to start is now. The results are even better when these treatments are started early.
Ultherapy is another exciting treatment. It uses ultrasound to heat the deep tissues which in turn causes tightening of the face and neck. This is a great device to remove jowls, tighten the jawline, elevate the brows, tighten the neck, and remove the “selfie chin”. It is a one-time treatment that basically helps tighten the skin almost as if it were shrink wrap.
Coolsculpting is one of the newest devices on the market. I love this machine! It effectively removes unwanted bulges by freezing fat. Once frozen the fat evaporates away over the course of three months to give you a smoother, more attractive appearance. The results are permanent. This machine is essentially a no downtime liposuction for small to moderate areas of fatty excess.
The field of non-invasive cosmetic treatments is expanding rapidly. It seems like every day there is a new device on the market to help you look and feel more attractive. Many of these devices provide a nice improvement. However, it is important to find the right physician. I would recommend a board certified plastic surgeon. You want to be sure you meet with someone who provides both non-invasive and surgical options. Sometimes a surgical option might be more appropriate and if it isn’t offered, you might not be provide the appropriate treatment. As the old adage goes: “If I’m a hammer, the whole world’s a nail”. Make sure you have a physician who can also be a screwdriver, saw, and chisel so you get the best possible outcome for your particular situation. Remember, “Be BeautifulTM”!
